This class is designed to introduce the CQI Flavor standards. It accomplishes this by:

  • Providing a basic understanding of how the senses of taste and smell function
  • Introducing and practicing recalling 7 Flavor Standards generally considered to be Positive Attributes
  • Introducing and practicing recalling 7 Flavor Standards generally considered to be Off-Flavors
  • Conducting a practice test that is the same format as the flavor calibration.
  • The attendee will learn how to prepare and recognize CQI Flavor Standards.  

About The Course

This New to Coffee Fest, 100s Level Class from CQI, is perfect for coffee professionals, and enthusiasts, looking to gain essential flavor knowledge, identify defects, and communicate flavor attributes of coffee up and down the supply chain. You will learn the basics of Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) flavor standards and get the tools and confidence to take your coffee career to the next level. 

It is designated to help attendees to experience the newest and easiest way to Learn CQI Flavor Standards! 

This class will introduce the CQI Flavor standards to any Q-Arabica or Robusta Grader wanting to practice or anyone else wanting to learn or experience the CQI flavor standards. 

This  4 hours class is perfect for coffee enthusiasts or professionals looking to gain essential flavor knowledge and/or calibrate themselves for their Q-Grader test.

Please Note: This workshop is part of our Education Day, held the day before the exhibit floor opens. On June 12, your Coffee Fest badge grants you access to a variety of seminars and workshops; however, the exhibit floor will not open to attendees until June 13.
